Murray Law Firm
TL;DR
A New Orleans firm known for high-stakes mass tort litigation, on a site that did not look the part. Contracted hourly to redesign it.
2025
Project Type
Freelance design client.
Role
Lead designer, reporting to the owner and equity partner.

Brand First
I opened with brand, as I usually do for sites that have not been redesigned in 15 years. Three logo directions: pillars in the shape of an M, a more legible M with a pillar, and an interconnected M.
Client rejected the premise for a lettermark that highlighted the M, no iconography, to keep it simple and more in-line with their previous version.

Site Design
Digital wireframes first, then a build that mixes Squarespace elements with custom-coded ones.

What I Learned
Looking retrospectively, this project made me realize, over a year later, that Squarespace is a good medium for novices, but not for a designer with a foundation in producing high quality, pixel-perfect work. If given the chance, I would love to redesign Murray’s site someday entirely with custom code to enhance the visual possibilities.
This being said, they are thrilled with their website, and I hope they continue to love it for years.
